Textured Abstracts
My textured abstract paintings are executed with a mixture of palette knives and brushes - executed instinctively and expressively, working with both hands simultaneously - left & right brain engaged.
The colours, tones and mark-making are laid down following an unseen pattern until they become their own unique representation of an infinite number of possible outcomes. A subconscious image is unearthed.
The inner creative energy comes into tangible and tactile substance on the canvas - a conduit to the “collective unconscious”.
It is fascinating to speak with people when viewing textured work as individuals with different depth of field sight elicit exhibit remarkably different reactions. The tactile nature of thickly applied oil paint which has hardened also feels wonderful to touch!
